Publisher and Editor

The publisher and editor of the albaNY apple is Daniel T. Weaver. From 2011-2015, Weaver published and edited the print publication Upstream A Mohawk Valley Journal, still available on amazon. In 2011, he launched a short lived media website, The Mohawk Valley Independent. He is also a co-founder of The Mohawk Valley Compass, which he is no longer associated with.

Weaver was a regular contributor to the op-ed section of The Sunday Gazette of Schenectady, NY from 1993-2015. He currently is a columnist for The Recorder of Amsterdam, NY. He has had articles published in a number of other publications as well.

Weaver is the author of The Willigee Negroes: An 18th Century Free Black Community in the Mohawk Valley. Also available on amazon.

Weaver has a B.A. in English from the University at Albany with a minor in history. He also has a M.A. in English from the University at Albany.

Weaver is president of Lock 11 media which publishes the albaNY apple. He is also a contributor to the albaNY apple.

Former and Current Contributors

Peter Betz is a retired librarian from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in upstate New York. He is a former historian of Fulton County and currently writes a history column for the Leader-Herald.

Satyrica writes all of our satirical pieces.

Neil Yetwin is a social studies teacher at Schenectady High School. He received the Louis B Yavner Award of the New York State Regents for excellence in Teaching the Holocaust and Civil Rights. The Schenectady City Council named him “Outstanding Citizen of Schenectady” for his local history research. He is the author of To My Son … The Life & War Remembrances of Captain Mordecai Myers, 13th United States Infantry 1812-1815
